Taiwan offers several benefits to immigrant workers via AREFP

Taiwan has offered diverse benefits to immigrant workers through the Employment and Recruitment of Foreign Professionals Act. It will become effective from 8th February 2018. Below is a brief of the new provisions:

Overseas Professional:

Overseas Professionals who have obtained Taiwan PR or APRC will be eligible to take part in the pension scheme for retirement. A part of this will be paid by the employer of the immigrant workers. They will also be able to submit an application for “Job-seeking Visa” that allows multiple entries approving a 6-month stay.

Special Overseas Professional:

Special Overseas Professionals in Taiwan will be in a position for extending their work permit. They will also be able to extend their PR with a total of 5 years of stay. These immigrant workers will also be able to apply for 4-in-1 “Gold Card”. It will have a validity of 1 to 3 years, as quoted by the NDC GOV TW.

The “Gold Card” will include a Work Visa permitting them to change jobs without legal hindrances. It will also consist of re-entry permit, Alien Resident Certificate, and a Resident Visa. The Family Visit Permits for linear ascendant family members of Special Overseas Professionals will have 1-year validity.

Senior Overseas Professional:

The dependents of Senior Overseas Professionals will be able to apply for Taiwan PR or APRC along with the principal applicant. They will also not be required to fulfill the eligibility criterion of residence in Taiwan for 5 years with minimum 183 days per the calendar year.

Dependent Members of Family:

The minor kids and spouse of overseas professionals who possess ARC will be able to quickly enroll in National Health Insurance System. As of now, this is permitted only after 6 months of residence.

The Taiwan PR criterions for dependents of overseas professionals who possess APRC have been eased. They will no longer be asked to demonstrate evidence for assets. Adult children of overseas workers will be able to independently apply for Work Permit. They will not require a sponsoring employer for this.
