The Tourism Bureau of Taiwan has restarted offering KH Visas or Kuan Hung Visas for tour groups from Vietnam. These Visas will be offered to them from 20 March said the Department of Tourism.
The KH Visas or Kuan Hung Pilot Project was under suspension by Taiwan. It was after a group of 152 tourists from Vietnam had disappeared in Taiwan late in 2018. The project is an E-Visa Program aimed at increasing the numbers of group tourists.
The Pilot project permits visitors from a few nations to apply for Tourist Visas without offering financial documents. It includes Vietnam and for package tours of minimum 5 individuals. The program is used by travel agencies authorized by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan.
E-Visa applications have processing times of a minimum of 7 working days. Complete names of tour leaders and to and fro air tickets of all travellers must be given with the applications.
Tour groups from Vietnam arriving at Taiwan through the KH Visas must undergo custom checkpoints. This is along with their tour group leaders, as quoted by the Vietnam News.
E-Visa applications of the travel firms will be rejected for 2 months if 1 or 2 tourists exceed the authorized stay period or flee. They will be eliminated from the list of authorized travel firms if 6 plus travellers violate the rules.
In spite of the stringent rules, the resuming of KH Visas will result in increased visitors from Vietnam said the travel firms. Their arrivals to Taiwan had declined sharply in 2018 after the suspension of E-Visa applications.
Travellers to Taiwan are required to get authorization or Visa prior to their arrival. This is unless if they are from nations who have Visa waiver or whose citizens are offered VOA – Visa on arrival.
All tourists must have a passport with 6 months validity excluding nationals of the US and Japan. They are required to have a passport that has validity only for the complete stay duration.
