The visa waiver for travelers from the Philippines has been rescheduled by Taiwan to September 2017 announced the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.
Manila’s Taiwanese post issued a statement that the exact date for commencing the visa waiver will be declared in September 2017, quotes Coconuts Co.
In April 2017, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Manila had said that visa waiver will be offered to travelers from the Philippines by the Republic of China with effect from June 2017.
However, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office issued the latest advisory that the visa waiver was rescheduled so as to fulfill appropriate inter-agency coordination and necessary administrative procedures.
Taiwan has emerged as the favored destination for travelers from the Philippines owing to flight travel of fewer than 2 hours and liberalized requirements for the visa that were implemented from October 2017. Visa waiver was also offered to travelers who had permits to arrive at the UK, the US, Schengen nations, New Zealand, Korea, Japan, Canada and Australia.
The Representative of Taiwan to the Philippines Dr. Gary Song-Huann Lin said that in spite of the rescheduling of the visa waiver, securing the visa waiver for travelers from the Philippines was one among his top concerns in the period of his Representativeness to Taiwan.
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office has meanwhile said that travelers from the Philippines are still a part of the e-visa program and they can either apply for the free Travel Authorization Certification or e-visa with fees or applicable visa stamped in the passport with appropriate visa fees. It also decided to further enhance the eligibility requirements for eligible travelers from the Philippines commencing from June 2017.
