Suing immigrants and Australian government arrive at a pact

The Government of Australia and more than 1,900 immigrants who were suing it over their treatment at the Papua New Guinea’s immigration camp have reached a settlement amongst them. The Government of Australia does not accept immigrants who arrive at the nation by boat. It instead gives financial assistance to Papua New Guinea and Nauru the islands in Pacific to keep these refugees who arrive in hundreds of numbers from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The immigrants who had sought refuge in Australia had sued the Government of Australia for false detention and sought monetary compensation for the psychological and physical injuries that were incurred by them owing to the conditions prevailing at Manus Island, claimed their legal representative. The Supreme Court at Victoria was scheduled to begin today the trial for 1, 905 erstwhile or current refugees of the Papua New Guinea’s Manus Island.
