Stanford University, UCLA ranked top globally for highest student employability, says study

The world university rankings of 2018 have been released by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) and they have listed educational institutions on the basis of their graduates’ employability. Conspicuous by their absence are the best in India, namely the IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Delhi and IIT Bombay, which ranked in top 191-200 worldwide.

Figuring among the top 10 this year are China’s Tsinghua University and two Australian universities.

The world’s best university for graduates’ employability is Stanford University, which ranked third best in Times Higher Education survey. This California-based university also makes it to the QS’s top five list in the world for subjects such as engineering and technology, arts and humanities, social sciences, life sciences and medicine and management and natural sciences.

The second best ranking in students’ employability as per the QS list is UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). Despite holding the QS world rank of 33, this university was listed as the fourth best university for electrical and electronic engineering. It figures among the ten best universities in the world for linguistics, English language and literature biological sciences, mathematics, medicine, communication and media studies, geography, chemistry and psychology.

Harvard University was ranked third in this list and also obtained the top rankings in social sciences and management, life sciences and medicine and accounting and finance departments.

The University of Sydney, which was ranked the best in Australia for student employability, was also ranked the best globally for sports-related subjects.

MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) secured five stars from the QS in most categories such as employability, research, teaching, specialist criteria, inclusiveness, inclusiveness, internationalization and facilities, besides architecture.

According to The Indian Express, University of Cambridge was ranked sixth in this list and is rated the second best for physiology and anatomy in the world.

The University of Melbourne and the University of Oxford were ranked seventh and eighth, respectively, in terms of employability. Meanwhile, University of Oxford is ranked the best in the world for arts and humanities, English language and literature, anatomy and physiology and archaeology and geography

UCB (University of California, Berkeley) and Tsinghua University, China, complete the QS top ten list of universities for student employability in the world.
