Sri Lanka has offered 242,000 Work Visas by now to overseas workers informed the Member of Parliament Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena. The Singapore FTA experts report has said that the numbers can boost under FTA, he added.

The report elaborates that Architecture, Labour, Dentistry, and Engineering fields may be opened for overseas nationals.
Any overseas national with Singapore Visa will be able to arrive at Sri Lanka to work through SLSFTA. This pact for trade is just 1% beneficial towards Sri Lanka and must be ended, said the MP, as quoted by the Daily Mirror IK.
Residency Visas can be offered to immigrants who intend to stay for work or other purposes for long-term in Sri Lanka. This is only after the authorities are convinced that the applicant is not a threat to the best interests of the nation.
