The fiscal year 2018 has witnessed 25% hike in the approvals for skilled immigrants to New Zealand bypassing earlier requirements to hire Kiwis first. This is in comparison with the statistics for the previous financial year.

Hamish Price the Director of the program Look See Build said that businesses have no options but to hire overseas immigrants. This program has helped several organizations such as Downer and Auckland Transport to hire highly skilled talents from overseas, as quoted by the Radionz Co NZ.

Mr. Price added that the demand to deliver in the private as well as the public sector has outreached the supply. Apart from this, there is work that has never been done in New Zealand before, he said. The experience to deliver this new kind of work demands overseas talents that actually possess the experience to perform explained the Director.

The Construction industry in New Zealand anticipates that it will need additionally 50,000 skilled immigrants in the next 4 years. This is to keep up with the enhanced demand in the sector. Businesses now perceive the overseas option as a real feasible pathway to clear the work backlog.

Employers that regularly hire skilled immigrants can apply for accreditation. This permits them to hire immigrants via Talent Visas. For this, they must satisfy the financial position and workplace practices criterions. They must also demonstrate the commitment to train and hire Kiwis. Association of Investment and Migration said that this is a thorough process that benefits the employers.

Accredited employers are not required to keep repeating the tiring requirements when they offer an Essential Skills Visa. This is because they have already been established by Immigration as legitimate employers.
