resh eligibility criterions for six Muslim-nation US Visa applicants have been now specified by the US administration led by Donald Trump. The refugees and visa applicants of these nations must possess affinity to family or businesses in the US. These fresh criterions have been specified close on the heels of the US Supreme Court partially restoring the travel ban order signed by Trump. The travel ban imposed by Donald Trump had received wide criticism in the international fraternity and within the US as well.
US Consulates and Embassies have been sent these new guidelines that state that the six Muslim-nation US Visa applicants must demonstrate that they are related to a spouse, partner, adult daughter or son, child, daughter-in-law, son-in-law or sibling in the US. The new criterions for the six Muslim-nation US Visa applicants are operational with immediate effect, as quoted by The Hindu. Associated Press has released a copy of the cable it obtained from the State Department regarding the fresh eligibility criterions. The guidelines further elaborate that for the purpose of determining close family relations in the US extended family members, fiancées, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, grandchildren, grandparents will not be considered.
According to the opinion of the judges of the US Supreme Court exemption will be available to the six Muslim-nation US Visa applicants from the travel ban in case if they can demonstrate an authentic relationship with an entity or person in the US. The lawyers of the US Government will have to define the nature of this authentic relationship. The US Supreme Court only provided the general rule by saying that it would be inclusive of a relative, invitation to lecture in the US or a job offer.
