Changes in Singapore Work Permit Process Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singapore is considering changes to the work permit process. As published in Bloomberg BNA, a spokesperson from MOM said that the work pass process is under review to improve the user experience of work permit applicants. Recently, in the month of October, MOM introduced rules that simplified the process of opening a Post Office Savings Bank account (POSB). The process allows the applicants to go to the bank and open a POSB account the very same day an employer takes him/her for registration to the MOM Services Center. This is one such initiative that eased the process for foreign workers in Singapore. MOM is taking more measures to better the process for other pass holders as well and not just the work permit holders. Currently, lower skilled workers are benefiting from the new process. The spokesperson further stated that “Depending on how this initiative works out, we will consider including the other pass types.” Source: Bloomberg BNA For more news and updates on immigration and visas, just visit Y-Axis News.
