The Cabinet of Thailand has decided to extend the one-year duration visa for the travelers who are older than 50 years to ten years. They will, however, have to report to the immigration police once in every three months.
The authorization under this visa will be valid as of now for five years and this could be later improved for another five-year period. The details of this visa were shared by Deputy Minister of the office of the Prime Minister, Col Apisit Chaiyanuwat. The fee for this visa has been laid down to be B 10,000, as quoted by the Phuket News.
Along with the age criterion, the visa makes it necessary for the immigrant applicants to have an income of B 100,000 for every month. If not thy have to possess a deposit of B three million which has to be upheld for a period of minimum one year following the authorization approval.
The immigrants who qualify for this visa must also possess the coverage of health insurance for a minimum 1000 US dollars for outpatient treatment and 10,000 US dollars for inpatient treatment for each policy every year.
This visa is aimed at tourist from nations that include India, Australia, Italy, Canada, Japan, China, Norway, England, Norway, France, Sweden, Germany, Taiwan, the Netherlands and the US, said Col Apisit Chaiyanuwat.
It was however not clarified whether the 10-year long duration visa will result in removal of existing visa or will be a fresh visa choice for immigrants who wish to stay in Thailand for a long duration.
The Cabinet of Thailand also announced the measures to promote tourism for a three-month period that includes provisional removal of the traveler’s single entry visa fee of B 1,000.
