In a move to enhance Umrah visits, Saudi Arabia has released a 96-hour stopover visa option for Indian nationals traveling to the West or the Middle East. This initiative offering streamlined processes, is a part of the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030, has been announced by Tawfiq bin Fawzan, the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah.
The friendly relationship between India and Saudi Arabia, under the visionary leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached new heights.
Minister of Minority Affairs Tawfiq bin Fawzan and Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan jointly briefed the media on India's commitment to facilitating Muslim pilgrimages globally. Minister Tawfiq bin Fawzan has emphasized the Kingdom's initiatives to utilize infrastructural upgrades and technological advancements to enhance the overall Umrah experience.
Muraleedharan highlighted the mutual benefits for both the nations, and their respective communities. He stated that the dedication of Ministry of External Affairs in collaborating closely will guarantee pilgrimage success.

Three new visa centers will be opened in India, in order to streamline the visa issuance processes. Umrah and travel agencies from both nations will collaborate at an upcoming exhibition in Mumbai, introducing projects aimed at enhancing the Umrah experience.
Collaborative efforts between Saudi Arabia and India have resulted in impressive outcomes, with over 1.2 million Indian pilgrims performing Umrah in 2023, marking a substantial 74% increase from the previous year.
Minister Tawfiq bin Fawzan expressed commitment to enhance direct travel options with a focus on accommodating the growing demand of Indians wishing to perform Umrah.
