As the 2018 FIFA World Cup (soccer) takes place between 14 June and 15 July in Russia, an announcement was made that ticket holders would be able to arrive in Russia visa-free during the event.
The visa-free travel is being provided to ticket holders to enter the former Soviet Republic from 4 June to 25 July. According to get.com, visitors can stay in Russia for more than 30 days during this event.
Eligible for visa-free travel to the world’s largest country by area are people who have purchased 2018 FIFA World Cup tickets during the window Russia has provided. But before that, ticket holders must obtain a FAN ID, which can be secured by visiting the FAN ID website or its physical distribution centre. FAN IDs will be issued to ticket holders at a distribution centre or will be mailed to them.
In addition, to make it easier for soccer fans to enter Russia during the World Cup, the Russian government will provide free travel to FAN ID holders on public transportation on days when matches are being played. It is necessary for ticket holders to carry FAN IDs at all times during their stay in Russia. Soccer fans need to present a FAN ID when entering a stadium.
