Modifications that will me made effective from July 2017 to March 2018 will result in several applicants becoming ineligible for the RSMS and ENS applications in Australia. There will also be a significant increase in the application fee effective from March 2018, as quoted by ACACIA AU.
The proposed changes will have a drastic impact on Employer Nomination Scheme and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visas in Australia. Applicants of the direct entry category in the RSMS and ENS streams must be less than 45 years of age from July 1, 2017, onwards.
Requirements for higher proficiency in the English language
The Temporary Residence Transition category applicants can currently apply for the RSMS and ENS visas with just Occupational English. The applicants will now require Competent English from July 1, 2017, onwards on par with applicants of direct entry.
Enhanced requirements for work experience
Applicants who intend to apply for the RSMS and ENS visas will need at least three years of work experience in their respective occupations from March 2018. As of now, there is no requirement of prior work experience for several modes for ENS and RSMS visas.
Occupations list will be restricted
Permanent Employer Sponsored visas will be available only for those applicants who are employed in occupations listed on the MLTSSL from March 2018 onwards. However regional positions might still have some extra occupations available. RSMS and ENS visa applicants will be very significantly impacted by this change.
Extra Training levy will be effective
An extra training levy will be imposed for applicants of RSMS and ENS visas from March 2018. It will be 3,000 dollars for small scale businesses with a business of less than 10 million Australian dollars or 5,000 dollars for large enterprises.
Applicants who are currently eligible for the visa sponsored by the employer must take steps to ensure that they can lodge the visa application without any further delays.
