In order to keep a check on the illegal immigrants that are coming into the United Kingdom, there are many steps that are being taken. One such step includes involving the Royal Navy in the process of keeping a check on this process. The government of the country has bestowed special powers on the officers serving in the Navy for the same.
The Bill will be discussed by the British Parliament for the first time on Tuesday. The enactment of this bill will give powers to the Navy officers, which will allow them to check the vessels that come along with the passengers travelling in them, arrest someone who is suspicious and seal evidence from them in that case.
Who must be kept away?
These measures are mostly targeted towards those who are working in takeaway food outlets, renting private properties and opening bank accounts because these are the areas where most of the illegal immigrants are found. This is the reason why the government of the country is keen to create a hostile environment for illegal migrants and all those who encourage them.
Right now, the Border Force has no power to take action even if it find that illegal smuggling of people is taking place. The implementation of this bill will give them the power to act accordingly when people attempt to enter the United Kingdom unlawfully. The new rules will also keep an eye on criminal gangs that usually smuggle people into the country.
There are others too…
There are other areas too on which these rules will have their effect. They include, having a driving license, renting a private property, being employed despite being an illegal immigrant and following the standard of English spoken in the UK. The last rule is most important for all those working in what are known as Consumer Facing roles. With this new bill, they hope to tackle the problem of illegal immigrants.
