A government supervising body in the US has revealed in its report that the visa agents in the US are under pressure owing to inability to keep a track of the individuals possessing the US visa as the technology in the PCs is outdated and obsolete. In their attempts to identify the overseas immigrants who have stayed in the US beyond the visa validity, they often land up discovering that the immigrants have actually made an exit from the US and their time has been wasted, as quoted by the Workpermit. The report has further revealed that the immigration analysts and enforcement operatives have to employ 40 to 10 passwords to gain access to their PCs. On the other hand, the report of the Inspector General of the US Department of Homeland Security Office discovered that around 40% of the active cases identified annually were not overstaying at all. It has been further elaborated in the report that officials and agents of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement have their PCs locked out for the time period ranging from few minutes to some days. The officials are also enhancing security risks as the passwords are often found in writing on their desks. While interviewing the agents of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement it was found by the Inspector General that out of the five cases investigated, one had already exited from the US. The follow-up of these waste leads resulted in 225 work hours being rendered unproductive, explained the report. The report also said that the time that is being whiled away for scrutinizing fake leads enhances the risk of actual overstay cases being ignored.
