A record number of invitations issued by PEI PNP in latest draw

Prince Edward Island’s Provincial Nominee Program [PEI PNP] has issued a record-breaking 345 invitations in the latest draw held on September 17, 2020. While 313 candidates got invitations through Labour Impact and Express Entry categories, another 32 entrepreneurs were invited through the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream.

The previous PEI PNP draw was held on August 20, 2020.

The minimum points threshold for business invitations was 102. No minimum points cut-off is generally specified for Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. The specific number of Express Entry candidates invited in any draw is also usually not disclosed.

With the latest draw, the PEI PNP has issued 1,163 invitations in 2020 so far to economic immigration candidates through the PEI PNP categories of Labour Impact and Express Entry.

Prince Edward Island, or PEI as it is commonly referred to, is a part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program [PNP]. With over 80 immigration pathways or PNP streams, each of the provinces and territories part of the PNP are allowed a set number of spaces for candidates that they can nominate for Canadian permanent residence.

PEI PNP Categories
[1] Express Entry	Aligned with the federal Express Entry system that manages applications for Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP], Federal Skilled Trades Program [FSTP], and Canadian Experience Class [CEC].
[2] Labour Impact	There are 3 streams – Skilled Worker Critical Worker International Graduate A valid job offer in PEI and support from the employer required.
[3] Business Impact	The Work Permit Stream, the only pathway under this category, allows individuals to come to PEI on a work permit and operate a business in the province for at least 1 year before being nominated for Canadian permanent residency.

Note. – Expression of Interest [EOI] profiles are required to be submitted by candidates under Labour Impact and Express Entry categories.

Through the PEI PNP’s Express Entry category, aligned with the federal Express Entry system, PEI goes through the pool of candidates available, nominating those with the most potential of thriving economically in the province.

To be considered by the PEI for a PNP nomination, Express Entry candidates are required to create an Expression of Interest [EOI] profile with the PEI PNP. EOI profiles are allotted a score based on the PEI PNP’s points grid. While a minimum score cut-off in any draw involving Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates is typically not disclosed by the PEI PNP, it is the highest-scoring candidates that receive invitations.

600 additional CRS points are gained through a PNP nomination, thereby ensuring that the candidate will be issued an Invitation to Apply [ITA] in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

By CRS is implied the Comprehensive Ranking System used for ranking profiles that are in the Express Entry pool. The highest-ranked profiles are issued ITAs in Express Entry draws.
