The Royal Commonwealth Society has demanded cheaper UK Visas for Indians in its latest research report. More affordable visa regime has been called for by the leading think tank based in the UK to attract increased numbers of visitors from India to the UK. RCS has revealed that the UK is being overtaken by its neighbor France. 185, 000 additional Business Visitors and travelers from India arrived in France in 2018.

The overall visits of Indians to the UK decreased by 1.73% while in France it increased by 5.3%. The share of outbound tourists from India to the UK decreased more than half to 1.9% in 2016 from 4.4% in 2006. France recorded the arrival of 600,000 Indians in 2016 that was 185, 000 more than those who arrived in the UK, as quoted by the Times of India.

RCS has presented its new fact sheet to the UK MPs as a part of its campaign for bilateral visa treaty between the UK and India. This campaign was launched in 2016 and the treaty will significantly decrease the cost of visas for tourists.

The RCS released a statement that the cost of 2-year visa will be reduced to just 89 pounds from the current 388 pounds through the proposed India UK visa treaty. It will also authorize multiple visits by the travelers within the 2 years period. This will be similar to the travelers of China who have been offered this facility from 2016, it added.

Virendra Sharma the MP from Labor Party is supporting this proposal for cheaper UK Visas for Indians. This will enhance the cultural and business ties and enable India and the UK to capitalize on global opportunities in the future he added.
