Quick processing of certain H-1B visa categories resumed by the US

Quick processing of certain H-1B visa categories will be resumed by the US for highly skilled overseas professionals in categories exempt from the Congressional ceiling. These are very popular with Tech professionals in India and are mostly for scientific research institutions and higher education. The official statement released stated that premium processing for certain H-1B visa categories exempt from the numerical cap will be immediately resumed by the USCIS. There is a numerical cap of 65,000for the H-1B visas for every fiscal year, as quoted by The Hindu. Apart from these, there are another 20,000 annual H-1B visas offered to applicants with a US Post-graduate or higher degree. USCIS said that premium processing will commence for certain H-1B visa categories that are exempt from the numerical cap. For this the H-1B applicant must be a higher education institution, a not-for-profit affiliated or related to higher education institution or a government research or not-for-profit organization. Quick processing of visas will also be resumed for applicants who are exempted and working at an authorized entity, organization or institution exempt from cap said the USCIS. It was earlier revealed that quick processing of H-1B visas was resumed for applications of doctors’ under the Conrad 30 waiver initiative and concerned government organization waivers. USCIS also plans to restart quick processing of remaining H-1B applications as and when the workload facilitates the same. Supplementary announcements that give exact details of resuming of quick processing of H-1B visa applications for other applicants will be made by the USCIS. Till then the quick processing of all other H-1B visas remains provisionally suspended. The H-1B visa is a non-migrant authorization that permits US firms to hire overseas workers in expertise jobs that mandate technical or theoretical expertise in specific fields.
