Immigration streams for overseas post-graduate students have been reopened by the Ontario province in Canada for those who have studied in the province. These streams for the overseas post-graduate students are – Graduate Stream Masters and Graduate Stream Ph.D. Both these streams for overseas post-graduate students are aligned with the Immigrant Nominee Program of Ontario. It is one of the Provincial Nominee Programs of Canada.
The Graduate Stream Masters and Graduate Stream Ph.D. of the Immigrant Nominee Program of Ontario are popular and they reach their intake limit within a very short time of their opening.
The Ontario government can nominate individuals who intend to settle in the province through its Immigrant Nominee Program, as quoted by the CIC News. Ontario is an immensely popular destination for the overseas students, especially Master’s and Doctoral students. They are attracted by the education quality and opportunities for research available across the province.
In 2017 these streams reopened earlier in May and February. On both the occasions the intake limit was exhausted within few days. The number of applications that will be accepted in the current intake period is not revealed. E-filing portal of Ontario must be used by the prospective overseas post-graduate students for filing their application for these two immigration streams.
Applicants who are successful in either of these two immigration streams are offered a base nomination certificate from the province. This makes them eligible for submitting an application for Canada PR with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Both the immigration streams do not require the applicants to possess a job offer from an employer in Ontario. They are also not required to be present in the province at the time of submitting the application.
