Ontario, Canada has received approval to nominate additional immigrants for 2017. This will be via the Immigrant Nominee Program Ontario. It is one of the Provincial Nominee Programs of Canada. The update regarding intake of additional immigrants for 2017 was announced on 18 December.

The exact number of additional immigrants who will be nominated by Ontario will be announced at a later date. This was informed by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration Spokesperson.

It was reported in November that Immigrant Nominee Program Ontario had already exhausted its allocation for 2017. It nominated 6000 immigrants for Canada PR, as quoted by the CIC News. The result is that Immigrant Nominee Program Ontario will go ahead with processing applications and issue nominations. This will be done until the additional intake of immigrants is completed.

There is more good news for the aspiring immigrants to Canada. Even applications that are submitted exceeding the extra allocation for OINP will be processed. These successful immigrant applicants will receive the nomination for 2018.

Immigrant Nominee Program Ontario receives applications from immigrants under 10 diverse streams for immigration. Ontario province is also projected to get advantage from the increased allocation for 2018. This will be under the multi-year immigration plan of the federal government. It was announced in November 2017.

Provincial Nominee Programs in Canada had an allocation target of 51,000 in 2017. This is likely to increase in 2018 to 55,000. Between 2020 and 2017, 32% increase in the targets for Provincial Nominee Programs has been planned by the federal government.

Almost 1 million fresh immigrants will be welcomed in Canada between 2020 and 2018. This is under the new plan for immigration levels announced by the government in November this year.
