oman tourist visa In a bid to encourage tourism sector in the country, Oman unveiled its e-visa service. Hereafter, tourists intending to visit Oman can apply for visas online by submitting their applications. In the first stage, non-sponsored tourist visas will be given to nationals of 67 countries and residents of GCC employed in 116 professions. Using the e-visa system, visitors can obtain their visa applications processed in line with Omani laws and regulations. Tourists need only fill up the form online and attach the required documents in addition to paying the application fee by debit or credit cards via a global payment gateway that Oman officially certifies. All applicants will be notified by the emails they provide. Salim Adi Al Mamari, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism, Oman, was quoted by Khaleej Times as saying that the Sultanate of Oman’s announcement of the e-visa system will facilitate the continued growth of tourism sector in Oman in the future as this provides besides  tourists, investors, researchers, businessmen and students smoother access to visa processing. Al Mamari said that the number of tourists visiting Oman in 2016 reached three million and by 2020 that figure is expected to grow to more than 4 million.
