Oman, a country on the Arabian Peninsula, is conducting roadshows in India in a bid to attract tourists. To be conducted by the Sultanate of Oman in partnership with its national air carrier Oman Air, roadshows would be conducted in four Indian cities during September.
The first roadshow would be organized on 19 September in Hyderabad at Park Hyatt; on 21 September 21 in Kolkata at the Oberoi; on 23 September in Ahmedabad at thr Courtyard by Marriott; and with the last one in Pune on 26 September at JW Marriott.
Lubaina Sheerazi, Ministry of Tourism, Oman, India Representative was quoted by Tourism Breaking News as saying that their country saw an increase in 17 percent of arrivals from India in 2015 and the first half of 2016 was continuing to witnessing growth in the same vein from here. These numbers are said to have encouraged them to make inroads into the tier II cities. That is the reason is why they decided on conducting roadshows in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune. They also zeroed in on Kolkata as a new market for Oman and would be holding their first roadshow in that city.
Oman has already made its presence felt in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai, which are said to be its main source markets. These roadshows will witness Oman Ministry of Tourism representatives accompanied by a 15-member delegation representing hotels, DMCs and attractions interacting with top travel agents and Indian tour operators. There will be a pre-fixed meeting format before the roadshow to allow the invited travel agents have adequate time to interact with each Omani delegate.
