New Zealand SMC visa workers will now have to be paid at least $24.29 per hour as per the diverse changes that have been implemented by Immigration New Zealand. This means that the minimum pay level for those immigrants who apply for residence under SMC – Skilled Migrant Category has increased. The changes have become effective from January 15, 2018.
The latest changes imply that a worker must be paid a minimum $24.29 per hour to obtain points through the Skilled Employment. It is a job that is on par with an occupation at level 3, 2, or 1 on the New Zealand and Australia Occupations Classifications – ANZSCO. On the other hand, it can also be an occupation that is at level 5 or 4 on ANZSCO. But for this, the minimum pay per hour must be $ 36.44, as quoted by the Mondaq.
The rate per hour is derived at on the basis of per hour payment. Thus, if a worker is paid a salary, the rate per hour is arrived at depending on the hours specified in the agreement for employment.
The agreement for employment can at times have variable hours of work. In this case, the Immigration New Zealand can ask for proof of hours range that a worker is employed. The highest numbers of hours that a worker is employed will be utilized to arrive at the rate per hour.
Several other changes have also been implemented for SMC visa workers. These will make it tougher to get residence. For instance, the majority of the applicants can claim lesser work experience than possible earlier. This implies that in these cases the applicants become disqualified for residence.
