As per the survey results from UNESCO, despite drastic pandemic restrictions across the world, the number of students applying abroad doubled for fall intake. According to the survey, 91% of Indian students are highly interested in pursuing their studies abroad, and among them, 71% of the students mentioned reason to choose to study overseas is because of better healthcare facilities. The number of applications received for fall 2022 was doubled this year compared to previous ones despite the COVID travel restrictions. This might also be due to attractive pay packages and job roles offered by recruiters at foreign education institutions. These educational platforms include Collegify, Foreign Admits, Leverage Edu, and Yocket. They also observed that majority of the applicants are showing utmost interest in STEM courses in the educational realms like the U.S., the U.K., and Canada.

“Indian students are being offered big pay packages in the US. For an engineering/CS/data science student, the starting range is $220,000 per annum as compared to $90,000 in 2019,” said Adarsh Khandelwal, co-founder of Collegify, which helps Indian students with admissions in top 100 foreign colleges.

They also stated that students from Financial Accounting and Economics in the U.S. are being offered the highest paychecks of $160,000 as their annual salary. As per the records, more than 1,000 Indian Students who registered through Collegify from top universities in the U.S. were paid more than $100,000 per annum in the previous years. Tech companies in the U.S. are also hiring freshers with raised income levels, as the outflow from India for STEM courses is on the uptrend. In Foreign Admits, 6 out of ten students were opting for "computer science" in the U.S. or Canada. Other than all these recently, the acceptance of Covaxin by WHO (World Health Organization) has pent-up the interest among Indian students to study abroad. At present, more than 80 percent of Indian students are going to popular international education destinations like the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the U.K.

According to the popular Indian travel agency, Thomas Cook …

“In October 2021, we surpassed our pre-pandemic volumes of 2019. With easing in travel and health protocols, we expect a strong revival for the spring intake as well,” said Deepesh Varma, senior vice-president, foreign exchange, Thomas Cook (India) Ltd.

The job opportunities abroad after attaining a degree from the U.S. are unmatchable, and specifically for the candidates having three years of experience in optional practical training (OPT). The students are also thinking that the return on investment is pretty high, hence the percentage of students willing to study abroad is doubling.
