Nova Scotia immigration staffs in Canada are heading to the UK to campaign for attracting new Physicians to the province. Lena Metlege Diab the Immigration Minister of Nova Scotia said that the aim of the visit to London is to assist and support the Physicians to actually migrate to Canada.
The government of Nova Scotia had announced last month a new migration stream to attract increased numbers of specialists and doctors to the province. It said that new stream will ease and quicken the process of immigration for overseas trained specialists and doctors, as quoted by the Global News CA.
The new immigration stream is applicable for those overseas physicians who already possess a job offer from IWK Health Centre or Nova Scotia Health Authority. So far, three applications have been finalized. 2 doctors scheduled to start practicing in Halifax and 1 in Baddeck.
2 staff members from the Immigration Department are slated to reach London by this weekend. They will be taking personal interviews of 9 doctors with whom they have already connected in the job fair held in fall 2017.
Lena Metlege Diab said that the immigration staff will be able to answer any queries by the physicians. Apart from this, the staff will also conduct a comprehensive information session for all skilled immigrants who are inclined to migrate to Nova Scotia as Canada PR holders.
The Immigration Minister of Nova Scotia said that the province is also finalizing a marketing strategy for overseas recruitment. The competition is not just with Canadian provinces, but it is with the whole world, added the Minister. Diab said that the problem of scarcity of doctors is not just limited to their province in Canada.
