Overseas students in New Zealand have diverse choices for their careers. Massey University Overseas student Recruitment Manager Zhu Lin said that the numbers of overseas students in Wellington have increased significantly of late. As of now, there are 5, 200 Overseas Students and 2,900 out of them are Chinese.
Massey University’s College of Creative Arts is a Wellington-based world-class design and art school. It was ranked as the #1 Asia Pacific University by the international design awards agency Red Dot in 2017, as quoted by the USA China Daily. Zhu added that the creative industry in New Zealand is really expanding.
The College of Creative Arts enhanced its range of offerings in 2014 through its Creative Media Production and School of Music. Massy is also launching a Masters Program in Design and it students will undergo 2-week internship at WETA Workshop, informed Zhu.
Zhu further elaborated and said that overseas students are offered diverse types of internships. Wellington is a special city, though small and its residents support each other and collaborate with each other, added Zhu.
Wellington also holds a yearly international design competition World of Wear-able Art. It is also a partner of the Massey University. WOW, Head of International and Business Development Ali Boswijk said that they are collaborating with the students of Massey for an outdoor exhibition in 2018.
We offer 400 individuals for the event annually, said Boswijk. However, there are around 120 designs on display. This offers ample areas for makeup, technology, performance and so on, he added.
The Victoria University of Wellington is also collaborating with WOW. It is offering diverse programs for students inclined in film, theater, and design.
