New Zealand Indian businesses are luring students from India with jobs for visas according to Immigration New Zealand. They are also charging thousands of dollars for jobs that lead to the residence, added the Immigration agency.
The Official Information Act has revealed documents that substantiate that the jobs for visas are a well-established business model. Some of the businesses even associate themselves with private training agencies to gain access to students.
The businesses align with the training institutions in order to be able to hire students for their firms. Their end goal is to sell jobs to these students when they are prepared to apply for jobs for visas to reside and work in New Zealand, as quoted by the Radio NZ.
Immigration New Zealand further revealed in its report that eight stores were involved in furnishing fake data for visa applications, selling jobs, illegal employment, and abusive workplace practices. It was most probably that the jobs for visas offense were deliberate and organized between the stores. Similar corrupt practices were likely to be prevailing in other firms and companies under the owners of the franchises, elaborated the report.
A surprise visit to one of the stores has been mentioned in the report of the Immigration New Zealand. The visit reveals the prevalence of illegal practices such as evading taxes for some employees and presence of volunteer staff.
The staff at a private training institute in Auckland had assisted students to work in violation of their study visas. These students were also exploited, according to the documents of the Immigration New Zealand. The staff at these firms was subject to exploitative workplace practices and had mostly shelled out a large sum of money for their job offers.
