Gurbir S Grewal has become the first Sikh-US State Attorney General with his nomination by Phil Murphy the Governor of New Jersey. He is the first Sikh-US to become the State public prosecutor General in the US. Bar Association South Asia has welcomed the appointment of Gurbir S Grewal as the State Attorney General
Grewal is the prosecutor of the Bergen County at present. He has spent a majority of his career in law in government service. He is working for the most populous Bergen County. With his staff of 265, Grewal is serving a society of nearly 1 million, as quoted by the Times of India.
Gurbir S Grewal earlier offered services as Assistant Attorney for New York during 2004 to 2007. He also served in the same capacity for New Jersey during 2010 - 2016. His tenure here concluded as the Economic offense division Chief. Grewal became renowned as the leading prosecutor here for the prosecution of largest data breach till date. He obtained his degree in 1999 in Law at School of Law Marshall-Wythe College of Mary & William.
Rishi Bagga the South Asian Bar Association President said that the diversity of the US and New Jersey specifically is reflected by the decision to select Chief Officer for law enforcement from an obvious minority community. It is significant in present times when immigrants and minorities are feeling targeted enforcement of the law, added Bagga.
Bhaveen Jani President of New Jersey Bar Association South Asia said that achievements of Grewal are really commendable. The association welcomes and applauds him being selected for this respect, added Jani. Grewal has served as the New York SABA President in the past.
