In his recent announcement, Vinod Zutshi, Secretary of Ministry of Tourism, stated that the ministry will provide mobile phone SIM cards to foreign travellers who apply for an E-Tourist visa. Mr Zutshi stated that the ministry was already discussing the probability of bundling such services with a couple of service providers and would be launching this service soon. Talking about the roll out, Mr Zutshi stated that the government would extend its SIM initiative for travellers belonging to the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions) category with more priority given to business travellers.
Mr Zutshi also stated that the Tourism Department was in the process of amending the existing rules for E-Tourist visas, such as changing the number of entries allowed and their validity to multiple entries and 60 days respectively, from the current single-entry visa that is valid for 30 days.
