Canada is currently the most favorable foreign destination to Overseas Immigrants. Hence, getting the Canadian Visa is a matter of concern for them. While the Immigration comprises many criteria and tasks, getting certain checks done is the most crucial of all. Presenting a Medical and Police clearance certificate is a must to receive a Canadian Visa.

Medical Exams

The Canadian Immigration Department might ask for a Medical exam when they receive an application. The requirements vary based on the type of Canadian Visa.

  • Permanent Resident Visa
  • Temporary Resident Visa

Medical Test for Permanent Resident Visa

A list of panel physicians is given on the Government of Canada website. One must choose a physician from that list. Once the tests are done, the result will be sent to the Canadian Immigration department. The Department will contact the candidate in writing. The department will send a set of instructions to the candidate after receiving the application. The medical test must be done within 30 days.

Medical Test for Temporary Resident Visa

If Overseas Immigrants are planning to visit Canada for more than 6 months, they will need a medical test. The following jobs need a medical test -

  • Health Science jobs
  • Medical Students
  • Primary or Secondary school teachers
  • Day nursery workers

The test will be valid for 12 months.

Police Checks

For Canadian PR, providing Police Certificates is a must. However, for any other Canadian Visa, the Immigration Department may or may not ask for it. Let’s check out some of the important points about it -

  • Candidates with age 18 year or above must provide a Police clearance certificate
  • It is the criminal record or statement of the candidate
  • Express entry candidates get 60 days to provide the certificate
  • Candidates must start the process as soon as they get into the express entry pool
  • Candidates might require a letter from the Canadian Immigration department
  • The certificate should not be issued more than 6 months before submitting the application

In case candidate needs a letter from the Immigration Department, they must submit a request on the Government website. They will review the request. If the application is otherwise complete, they will send further information on getting the certificate. As suggested by the Government of Canada, candidates must submit the certificate within 60 days. The Canadian Visa application would be rejected otherwise, as quoted by the Canada CA.
