Malaysians planning to visit the European Union will require ETIAS Visas from 2020. Their travel requirements for the EU will thus be changed. A report in this regard was published at the beginning of 2018 itself. It said that the immigration process of the EU for Malaysians will be changed. They will be required to apply for the European Authorisation and Travel Information System Visas from 2020, added the report.
The official website of ETIAS Europe has now confirmed the report. It states that Malaysians will require ETIAS Visas before arriving at the EU. The EU developed the ETIAS system for strengthening the border control. It was also for safeguarding the EU nationals in the Schengen Zone and the visitors as well. Malaysians will be able to apply online for the ETIAS Visas beginning from 2021, as quoted by the World of Buzz.
The ETIAS Europe website now states that:
‘It will be feasible to apply for this Visa by completing a fundamental application form that includes travel and personal details. Applicants will furthermore have to offer details regarding their health and passport. The last step in the Visa process is payment for the application. This must be done through a debit or credit card’.
The validity of the ETIAS Visas is 3 years or till the expiry of passport of the ETIAS holder. The 3 fundamental requirements for this visa are:
