Malaysians now get US Work Visa renewal via e-mail

Malaysians can now get US Work Visa renewal via e-mail while earlier they had to visit the US Embassy in their nation personally. However from now onwards they can send their documents online by e-mail. This elite service of US Work Visa renewal via e-mail is available only for those who possess a valid US Visa or if it has expired in the past 1 year.

Normal Malaysians who travel to the US will also become eligible for this renewal of visa by mail at the earliest. The Ambassador of the US to Malaysia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir said that the US government aims to make the visa process more customer friendly for the Malaysians.

As a matter of fact, 95% of the nationals of Malaysia who applied for the US Visitor Visa or Business Visa have been approved, said Lakhdhir. The rate of approval of US Student Visa for nationals of Malaysia was even higher at 99%. The online process makes things easier for both the Malaysians and the US Embassy added the ambassador. Majority of the visas that are approved are 10 years US Travel visas, as quoted by the Visa Reporter.

The applicant is required to answer a list of queries for becoming eligible for the visa after they have filled an online form. The applicant will receive a confirmation if he/she qualifies. The applicant is then sent an SMS or E-mail to collect the visa from the consulate or embassy once the visa is ready.

US Consul General Matt Keene demonstrated the new program in a live session on the Facebook that has been viewed by tens of thousands of people. It is not sure whether the facility will be extended to other nationals, said Lakhdhir.
