Malaysian nationals have the 6th most influential passport in the world. They have left behind nationals from even developed nations such as New Zealand and Australia. This has been revealed by the Global Passport Index.
The Passport Index assigns the rank to the nations based on the inter-border admittance of their passports. They are assigned visa-free points based on the figure of nations the passport owner can visit without the visa. It also includes VOA for the rankings, as quoted by Themalaysiansight.
Malaysia received the visa-free score of 154. It was tied at the 6th rank with US, Ireland and Canada. Malaysia has offered visa waiver to nationals of 118 countries. Travelers from 38 other nations have been offered VOA by the nation.
Singapore has been ranked the number one most influential passport on the globe. It received a visa-free score of 159. Passport of Singapore moved to the top place after Paraguay offered the visa waiver to it. The passport of Afghanistan is the least powerful as it had a visa-free score of 22.
Japan and South Korea are the other nations from Asia in the top 10 list. With 4th and 3rd place, their scores were 156 and 157 respectively.
The passport Index was developed by the firm Arton Capital. It said that the top most powerful passports were mostly from the European Union. Germany is securing the first rank from the last two years.
The Passport Index further revealed that the US permits have plummeted in rankings. This was after Donald Trump assumed the office of US President. Central Republic of Africa and Turkey recently revoked the visa waiver to the holders of US passports.
