Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada has said that most of the PR applications backlog in the program Live-in Caregiver will be processed by the conclusion of 2018. IRCC has announced that it aims to process 80% of the PR applications that were submitted by 1 October 2017. This is applicable to LCP applications submitted by family members and caregivers.
Ahmed Hussen the Immigration Minister of Canada made this announcement to the media. He said that the government is committed to clear the pending PR applications under the LCP. Applicants who have faced family separation and long delays will soon get their PR applications processed, he added. They may soon unite with their loved ones in Canada, said the Minister, as quoted by the CIC News.
LCP offers overseas nationals minimum 2 years full-time employment as live-in caregivers. They are also offered a direct pathway to Canada PR. 6000 applications for Permanent Residence in Canada can still be submitted under LCP, said IRCC. It also committed to processing 80% of the new and complete applications under LCP within 1 year. This is applicable to applications submitted by 1 October 2017.
IRCC said that as of October 2017, the applications for PR under LCP waiting to be finalized have been decreased by 63%. It was possible to decrease the backlog of applications partly due to the additional resources that were dedicated to the processing of pending applications by IRCC.
The dedicated resources have enabled IRCC to finalize 5,000 extra cases than that was predicted for 2017. A total of 20,000 fresh PR holders will be accepted to Canada in 2018 through the Live-in Caregiver program.
