Alberta PNP Draw

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program [AINP] recently released the details of its latest draw held on April 29. A total of 200 invitations – also referred to as Notifications of Interest [NOIs] – were issued to Express Entry candidates.

Immigration candidates that received NOIs in latest draw will now have a chance to apply for being provincially nominated by Alberta for Canada permanent residence.

If their application is approved by the AINP, they will automatically be given an additional 600 points towards their overall Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score, thereby guaranteeing that they receive an invitation in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

Those invited in the latest draw had a CRS score of 322.

Since COVID-19 special measures were put in place by the Canadian government on March 18, the focus in federal Express Entry draws has shifted towards the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] and Canadian Experience Class [CEC]. Draws held after March 18 have alternated between the 2 programs.

As of now, for a provincial nomination, Alberta is only considering candidates that are already living and working in the province. Under normal circumstances, a job offer is not required in order to be considered for a NOI under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

The AINP is offering flexibility for PNP candidates that are unable to submit their complete documentation due to service disruptions and restrictions on account of COVID-19 special measures.

Copies of documents will be accepted by the AINP during this period.

If the candidate satisfies the requirements, their file is to be kept on hold by the AINP for 60 calendar days.

With the latest April 29 draw, AINP has issued 1,407 invitations to Express Entry candidates in 2020 so far.

While in 2019, the AINP issued a total of 6,884 invitations, Alberta’s provincial allocation for 2020 has not been released as yet.
