Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, officially launched the electronic-visa sector on 21 July at Kuwait International Airport. Henceforth, applicants can procure the entry visa online before arriving in the country.
During the inauguration of the e-visa services at the airport facility, Arab Times quotes Sheikh Mohammad as advising the staff to regularly check up the new system and maintain it. He forewarned that any issues would hamper the service, which would affect Kuwait’s image abroad. He stated that workers, who are qualified, should be allocated the task of running the system
The introduction of e-visas is part of Kuwait’s broad strategy to improve and hasten the State services for all people, particularly expatriates and citizens. He told the security personnel to discharge their duties effectively and treat the people arriving at the airport and departing from it with kid gloves.
The technological sector in-charge in the Ministry of Interior, Ali Al-Muaili, addressing the minister and others, said that through this e-visa system, visas would be provided to people abroad through the MoI website, www.moi.gov.kw, which will save them the time and energy they would have to expend at Kuwait airport.
The Director General of Residency Affairs, Major General Talal Maarefim, said the applicants would get a reply immediately online through the new service. He also added that the instant visa would be granted to citizens from 52 countries, including expatriates in the GCC countries. He also said that people of 13 professions would be eligible for this service.
