The Canada Express Entry draw held on June 28, 2017, has offered the Invitation to Apply to 3, 409 applicants inclined to immigrate to Canada. Candidates with a comprehensive ranking system score of 449 or more points in the Express entry pool are now eligible to apply for the Canada PR with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
After the latest improvements to the comprehensive ranking system that came into effect on June 6, 2017, this was the first Express entry draw being held by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. Candidates with a sibling in Canada or French language proficiency in the Canada Express entry pool were awarded extra points that gave a boost to their CRS scores, as quoted by the CIC News.
While announcing these changes the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada had clarified that the Canada Express Entry profiles of candidates will be updated for these improvements prior to holding the next round of draw offering the ITAs. It could take around 14 days or more, added the IRCC.
Almost 4 weeks had elapsed since the changes were announced to the Canada express entry scheme and thus this draw was keenly awaited by the immigrant applicants and their family members.
On the other hand, there are other factors that must be pondered over regarding the latest threshold CRS scores. Normally there is a gap of 2 weeks between 2 consecutive express entry draws, while there was a gap of 4 weeks this time.
The additional 2 weeks gap would have permitted increased number of applicants to enter the draw than in a normal time period of 2 weeks. It would have also facilitated certain candidates to update their scores for a qualifying job offer or nomination certificate from a Canadian province.
