Canada's job vacancies hit record high

Canada popularly known as the Great White North, once again proved as the land of opportunities.

The country has recorded the highest growth in employment and fall in unemployment rate because of the impact of pandemic.

According to the reports in December 21, 2021…

There are more number of job vacancies in Canada it has hit the record of 912,600 in the third quarter of 2021, as per the data from officials.

The country has released the monthly statistics data, along with the factors responsible for increasing job vacancies in Canada. These includes sectoral and regional differences in unmet labor demand, changes in the occupation and skills profile of vacancies, and recent trends in the wages offered by employers.

Across every sectors, more than 349,700 job vacancies were registered during 2019. Comparatively the same were registered in the two years period and even till the third quarter of this year. The number of job vacancies hiked during the third quarter of 2021 in 18 of the 20 major industrial sectors. But the below sectors were not up in the third quarter of 2021.

  • Agriculture
  • Forestry
  • Fishing
  • Hunting
  • Real Estate
  • Rental
  • Leasing

The five sectors have lots of vacancies in healthcare, construction, accommodation and food, retail trade and manufacturing sectors have showed highest growth. Increase in number of job vacancies signals the number of changes in labor market conditions existing in different places in Canada.

But the major thing is the number of vacancies increased in low wage occupations than in high-wage occupations between the third quarter of 2019 and the third quarter of 2021.

In contrast, the 20 percent of occupations with the highest average wages represented 9.4 percent of vacancies in the third quarter of 2021, down 1.1 percentage points from the same period two years earlier.
