Increased numbers of applicants in the Express entry draw are receiving the ITAs for a permanent residency in Canada. In the draw held on April 19, 2017, a total of 3, 665 applicants were offered an ITA while the CRS threshold reached an all-time low of 415.
The latest draw is the third to be held for the month of April 2017. A total of 11, 341 ITAs have been issued so far in the month of April.
With this, the whole figure of ITAs offered till April 2017 exceeds the whole figure of ITAs offered in the entire year 2016. 35, 973 ITAs have been offered so far in 2017 while 33, 782 ITAs were offered in all the 12 months of 2016, quotes CIC News.
On the other hand, the threshold for CRS points has reached as low as 415 points while compared to the 497 points just four months ago. This draw was also the sixth instance this year where in the CRS points threshold reached an all-time low score. It implies that there will be a great diversity of applicants who will be receiving the ITA for a permanent residency in Canada.
The hectic start to the second quarter of 2017 has been preceded by an outstanding first quarter. If one is to go by the indications of the first three weeks of April, it is very much possible that the ITAs issued through the summer and spring could eventually exceed the figure of ITAs offered in the first quarter of 2017.
It was stated by the IRCC earlier this year that reducing the number of CRS points awarded to applicants with a job offer in Canada would result in decreasing the threshold of CRS points. This factor along with the steep increase in the number of ITAs offered since the beginning of this year has resulted in the decrease of CRS point’s requirements over past few months.
Attorney David Cohen has said that the number of ITAs issued so far in 2017 is more than the number of ITAs issued in the entire year 2016. This clearly implies that IRCC considers Express entry as the chief means for welcoming economic immigrants into Canada, at present as well as in the future, added Cohen.
