IT specialists can look to Bulgaria for work immigration Bulgaria, which is a part of the European Union and a European Economic Area member recently announced that in response to an increased demand for highly-skilled labour, particularly in the Information Technology industry. The Republic of Bulgaria is simplifying rules and procedures on the hiring of non-EU citizens. Responding to a very high demand for highly skilled immigrants in some sectors, Bulgaria wants to change rules and procedures round the hiring of non-EU work immigration. The list was approved and printed in the month of January this year and covers many occupations from the IT sector, including the following: Computer Networks Specialists, Software Developers, Computer Networks Specialists, Systems Administrators, Sales Specialists in the Field of Information and Telecommunication Technologies, Systems Analysts, Database Specialists, Developers and Database Administrators, and Developers of Web Content and Multimedia. As mentioned by EU Blue Cards issuance unit, highly skilled professionals from non-EU countries qualify with fewer visa granting conditions, compared to personnel that are expected to meet Bulgaria's (& EU’s) strict visa requirements. Since the introduction skilled occupations list, the 3 – 4 month Blue Card application procedure has ben sped up considerably by the maximum amount of 2 months for those professionals. Along with the same changes that are now in regulation, the Bulgarian Government can presently introduce a general legislation modification regarding labour force quality and immigration to the same. A new rule combining all work permits with a residence certificate, which presently subscribe to separate procedures, and combinations can scale back the completion time. Also, a far off worker coming into the country for up to a few months to finish an assignment no longer needs a work permit to reside and work in the country. Final parliamentary rulings are still to be brought into legislation, however, the bill is predicted to be passed shortly.
