17500 Canada PRs were offered by IRCC in Q1 2018 - January to March and thus the first quarter has begun on a high note. This has enhanced the expectations for the forthcoming spring draws. The Comprehensive Ranking System CRS score in Express entry also reached a record low.
More than half of the Q1’s rounds of ITAs i.e. Invitations to Apply offered 3000 ITAs in each draw – 4 out of 6 draws. This was an addition of 250 Canada PRs over the Q1 2017 that offered 2750 ITAs.
The first Express entry draw held on 10 January in 2018 had record low CRS score for a first draw with 446. This was 22 points lower than the first draw held in 2017, as quoted by the CIC News.
The next 3 draws of 2018 continued the record low beginning. The threshold CRS scores were 444, 442 and 442 in that order. This is in comparison with the CRS scores of 459, 453, and 447 in the first 3 draws of 2017.
The first quarter of 2018 concluded on a good note with a rare draw held on Monday 26 March that witnessed 10 points decrease in minimum CRS score with 446. This was in comparison with the previous draw held on 14 March that had minimum CRS score of 456 owing to a gap of 3 weeks in between the draws.
The reduction of 10 points between the two consecutive draws was a good indicator of the impact of draws being held every two weeks on CRS minimum score. In this case, it was 12 days. Less time between two draws means lesser time for renewal of Express entry pool that helps in lowering of minimum CRS score.
