British Columbia Canada

Invitations to apply (ITAs) were sent to 11 candidates for the British Columbia province’s Entrepreneur Immigration stream under the latest draw.

To qualify for an ITA via the draw, which happened on 29 November 2017, candidates needed to get a score of at least 115.

Under the Entrepreneur Category, candidates for the business category of the British Columbia immigration needed to satisfy the following conditions:

They must show that their personal net worth is a minimum of CAD800,000; they should personally invest a minimum of CAD400 000 to set up, purchase or expand an eligible business in the province; create three full-time jobs for citizens or permanent residents of Canada; take part in the daily management and direction of the business; ink a performance agreement with the province before nomination; and they are allowed to sponsor a crucial staff member in the Entrepreneur category for Canadian permanent residence.

According to investment immigration.com, under the Regional Entrepreneur Category, business candidates need to satisfy the following conditions:

They must show that their personal net worth is a minimum of CAD400, 000; they should personally invest a minimum of CAD200 000 to set up, purchase or expand an eligible business in the province outside the metropolitan areas of Vancouver and Abbotsford; create one full-time job for a citizen or a permanent resident of Canada; take part in the daily management and direction of the business; and ink a performance agreement with the province before nomination.

The latest general draw witnessed 383 candidates being invited to apply through provincial programs for British Columbia immigration and Canada Express Entry.

Skilled workers needed to get at least 73 points, with 67 points needed by overseas graduates and 40 by semi-skilled and entry-level workers.

Foreign graduated need to get 30 points fewer than a skilled worker under Canada Express Entry as well as provincial stream. The score is much lower for semi-skilled and entry-level workers.
