Affluent Indians are opting for US Golden Visa pathway even as Trump toughens visa rules for legal immigration. The latest deadline extension for EB-5 Visas has further accentuated the rush for applying to this visa more renowned as the US Golden Visa pathway.

From September 2015, US Immigration Committee has made sustained efforts to enhance the investment for this visa to $920, 000. As of now the required investment for this visa is $500,000.

The deadline for the increase has been repeatedly extended. The latest extension offered is until 19 January 2018. Parents of students in the US and businessmen are hurrying to avail the lower investment slab.

CanAm Enterprises India and the Middle East Executive Vice President Abhinav Lohia said that investment may become more expensive. Thus more Indians are opting for US Golden Visa pathway to obtain the visa at lower cost, as quoted by the Economic Times.

Lohia said that the queries from India for the EB-5 visa have spiked in the last one month. This is a good time for businesses to expand, he added.  The US Immigrant Investor EB-5 Program offers Permanent Residency to the overseas nationals. For this, they are required to make an investment of $500,000 for projects that will create minimum 10 jobs of full-time nature in the US.

Arnstein & Lehr's Law firm Attorney Rohit Kapurina said that the proposal for barring work permits for spouses of H-1B visa holders is making people incline towards the EB-5 visa. This investor program permits the investors to include their spouse and unmarried kids below 21 in their visa application. It is also a pathway for PR in the US, added Rohit.
