The Indian Consulate in the UAE has asked the Indians not to arrive for job search through the UAE visit visas amidst increasing cases of visa frauds and dupe. They have also been asked to validate their permit visas and offer of employment prior to their arrival to the nation.
The advisory for UAE visit visas comes even as the Consulate is receiving increased number of calls from Indian workers who have been cheated by employers or agents.
Vipul the Consul General of India in UAE said that the consulate did not have the statistics of the exact number of such complaints as most of them are intricate and question diverse issues. He said that majority of calls for duping concerned workers who came to work or search jobs on UAE visit visas.
Vipul was quoted by the Gulf News as saying that several cases were reported wherein in individuals landed in trouble for having arrived to work or search jobs through UAE visit visas. There are also instances wherein ladies were asked to work as domestic help by doubtful agents. These ladies had arrived at the UAE through visit visas and some were sent to Oman and other nations added Vipul.
The Consul General of India in UAE clarified that in cases of grave fraud, the Consulate attempts to reconcile with the employers. The employers are asked to return the passports and facilitate the return of aggrieved individuals to India, added Vipul. Air tickets to 186 stranded workers have been issued by the consulate by June 2017 informed Vipul. The most recent was related to 27 workers from Uttar Pradesh who were declined jobs and left in the lurch by the agents, explained Vipul.
