India has decided to allow citizens of Bangladesh, possessing confirmed travel tickets, to submit their visa applications without prior appointment dates or e-tokens in an effort to ease the process of obtaining tourist visas for India from Bangladesh.
The Press Trust of India quotes the Indian High Commission in Dhaka as saying on 28 December that it was a part of current attempts to liberalise, improve efficiency and allay the procedure for procuring Indian visas. The Indian mission in Bangladesh will allow all travellers from that country to submit their tourist visa applications directly from 1 January 2017, it said.
The High Commission also added that the submission of these forms should be done before a week or also within a month of the date of travel.
From 1 January, the walk-in tourist applications from confirmed tourists could be submitted in Mirpur’s Indian visa application centre.
According to the mission, its trail period had begun in October for letting walk-in visa application facility for travelling women and their close family members has proved to be very successful.
