New Visa E-Services has been launched by the Bureau of Immigration in India for application and processing of services related to visas. This is at its Offices for Foreigner Regional Registration at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru.
The new Visa E-Services are being used as of now only at these select cities. However, it is likely to be launched at the other FRROs all across India and at the FROs. Eventually, this is expected to become a standard all across the nation, as quoted by the Times of India.
The changes become effective immediately permitting overseas residents in India to lodge applications for visa extensions electronically. They will also be able to furnish residence registrations to the select FRROs.
The new Visa E-Services has payment acceptance functions, sending text messages, as well as e-mail alerts with updates for status. The system users will now not be required to visit FRRO for Residence Permits. These will be delivered by post or electronically.
The usage of the latest digital system is optional as of now till it is completely tested for use. The overseas residents in India are still permitted to utilize the existing manual process of visiting in person to the FRROs.
The individuals who intend to utilize the latest online system will have to register their accounts digitally on the website portal of BOI.
The E-Visa facility was earlier launched at the Airport at Pune from 1 April 2017. It had an inspiring start as 10+ visas were processed within 14 days. An official at the Mumbai Office for Foreigner Regional Registration said that the system was functioning smoothly. More applications will be processed in the future he had added.
