The government of India has tweaked the current visa rules to welcome more Omanis to India for purposes of tourism, business and other such reasons.
The South Asian country will now issue e-tourist visas to tourists from the Sultanate of Oman who come for sight-seeing and recreation, while it will issue e-business visas for improving business activities in India and e-medical visas will be issued for those wanting to get medically treated in India.
According to Times of Oman, the window for issuing e-visas has been increased to 120 days from the present 30 days, allowing its holders to travel to India within 120 days of its grant.
India will also now allow Omani e-visa holders to stay in India up to 60 days, an increase from the current 30-day period.
On the other hand, the FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Officer) concerned will let e-medical visa holders apply for an extension to stay for up to six months depending on their illness.
The holders of e-tourist visa and e-business visa from Oman can now visit India twice compared to the earlier eligibility of once. E-medical visa holders will be able to enter India thrice on the same visa as they will be granted triple entry visas.
Meanwhile, Indian mission in Muscat, the capital of Oman, had issued over 900 business visas and 72,000 tourist visas in the year 2016.
