Universities in Canada Increased numbers of Indian students are applying for universities in Canada thanks to the current politically volatile anti-immigrant ambiance in the UK and the US. Universities in Canada are witnessing an increase in the number of overseas students’ applications for Study visas. This is no surprise owing to the non-friendly ambiance in the US led by Donald Trump and other nations in the world. As per the statistics of the Toronto University, there is a 57% increase in the number of Indian students applying to the university. The percentage of the number of applications accepted from Indian students also increased by 45%. A similar situation is present in the McGill University at Montreal that witnessed an increase of 58% from 2016 in the number of visa applications from Indian students. Canada is witnessing a steady increase in the number of visa applications from Indian students every year but there has been a sharp increase in these applications for the academic year 2017-18. The International Vice President of Toronto University Ted Sargent said that the increase in the number of visa applications from Indian students is quite apparent this year. The number of applications from faculty members and researchers has also increased, added Ted. The reason for the increase in the number of overseas students arriving in Canada is due to the fact that it offers global standards education. The cost of living in Canada is lower when compared with the UK or the US, as quoted by the Little India. The post-secondary education in Canada is more standardized and strong when compared with the US. It is common for overseas students in Canada to avail scholarships based on merit which is a common feature of several universities in the nation. Quite often, only 12th-grade report cards are required by the universities while assessing the transcripts of overseas students. The level of academic credentials is dependent on the course applied for and the institution.  In fact, some institutions even do not require the ACT or SAT test scores. The process of admission is hassle free in Canada. There is a lesser focus on the letter of recommendation, essays and extracurricular activities while compared with the US. There is no hostile ambiance in Canada for overseas students. It also has a clearer pathway for Canada PR and enhanced surety in its system that is facilitating to enhance the downpour of visa applications. The current overseas students' population of Canada is more than 350, 000. It is almost 1% of the total population of Canada.
