Earlier, Malcolm Turnbull the Prime Minister of Australia had announced that 1 million Australian jobs have been created since the Coalition government assumed office in 2013. The National Liberal government has thus delivered a crucial commitment, he added. Thus there are 1 million additional Australian jobs now than present when we were elected, said Turnbull, as quoted by the Buzzfeed.
Jason Russo the Statistics and Information branch Secretary in DHA elaborated on the impact of immigration. More than 50% of the total 1 million Australian jobs created in last 5 years were owing to immigration, he added.
The positive and overwhelming influence of immigration on the creation of jobs in Australia was also endorsed by Michael Pezzullo the Secretary of Home Affairs. He clarified that immigration contributed by 50% plus to the population growth of Australia.
A report was released by the Australia DHA and Treasury that analyzed the impact of immigration. It revealed that immigrants accounted for 2/3rds of the net created jobs in last 5 years and for 72% of full-time jobs. It further elaborated that crucial statistical correlation of immigration for enhanced job market outcomes for Australians has been observed.
In fact, some of the immigrants even do not participate in the labor market or have restricted work rights. Nevertheless, they add to the creation of jobs by consumption of services and goods.
Meanwhile, officials were unable to give a definite breakup of the numbers of provisional and PR immigrants out of the total figures.
