IRCC has announced the last date for applying to PGP applications. December 6, 2021, is the last date to apply for the PGP application in Canada.
If you have submitted your interest to sponsor your parents and grandparents to welcome them as permanent residents of Canada, check if you are invited to apply. After receiving it, you need to fill two applications forms:
Sponsorship application and
Permanent residence application

After submitting both the applications online at the same time, and submit it on or before 11:59 PM EST on December 6, 2021.
Below are the detailed steps to apply for the PGP program. This is a bit different in present times.
Step 1. Receive an invitation to apply
The country invites potential sponsors to apply for sponsorship to parents and grandparents under the PGP program. The country has set a goal to accept 30,000 complete applications.
Step 2. Can I apply online
Yes, you can apply it online. But be cautious. You are not allowed to apply online until you receive the invitation to apply. If you apply to the 2021 program, your application will be rejected, and the amount will not be refunded.
If you are a sponsor, you need to fill the following forms:
Document checklist
Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking
*Note: The sponsor and the persons whom you are sponsoring must sign the form by hand.
These forms should be downloaded through Adobe Reader 10 or higher. These downloaded forms are saved and taken a print and then need to be signed by applicants and sponsored persons. Make sure that you need to fill the forms first and then download them.
Step 3. Pay the application fees
The fees for the PGP application includes the following:
Processing fees for sponsors, candidates you’re sponsoring, and their dependants
Right of Permanent Residence Fee
Biometrics fee
Biometrics fee
The biometrics fee includes the cost incurred for collecting fingerprints and for a digital photo.
Third-party fees
This will be required for
Medical examination
Acquiring police certificate
Step 4: Checkpoints before you submit your online application
Before submitting the online application, make sure you check the below points:
Answered all questions
Check your full name as per the passport
Attach the processing fee receipt
Upload all the essential supporting documents
Attach the letter of invitation received to the 2021 program
Note: If your application is incomplete, then they will contact you via email. You need to fix errors and resubmit the application before the deadline.
Step 5: Additional information during processing
While processing the application, the applicant will be asked to submit some additional information like:
Medical exams
Police certificates
These are not essential to include while applying, but you need to keep them ready for later process.
So, the applicants should keep all the data required ready, to submit it without any delay.
Biometrics
After receiving the biometric fee, they will send a letter to your family members whom you are sponsoring to submit their biometrics. You need to submit all the biometric details in person to the nearest centre.
Step 6: How to get updates regarding the application online
If you and the sponsored candidates meet all the eligibility requirements, you will receive an email to link your application to your online account.
